"Rude, arrogant, unwelcoming and dismisssive"

About: Bracknell Urgent Care Centre Wic

My 2 and half year old daughter had been previously diagnosed with having the Norovirus but her condition had worsened since we last saw the GP and she was now very weak, couldn't lift herself out of bed, didn't have energy to walk up or down the stairs, wasn't interested in any of her favourite toys, didn't even want to answer any of my simple questions and was refusing to eat or drink anything so I took her to Brants Bridge at 10pm on 16th June as I was really worried about her health.

When my daughter's name was called at Brants Bridge Outpatients, we went to the office but the GP we saw didn't introduce themselves, the doctor just asked me why I was here, whilst slouching in their chair.

I asked whether the doctor had had a chance or even to read my daughters notes from the previous visit and the telephone call I had with another GP before arriving which the doctor said they had not so I started to briefly give the doctor an explanation for my visit and told the doctor all my concerns. I explained that I believed my daughter needed help to which the doctor interrupted and asked again 'why did you come here? then went on to tell me ' that: In this country people come to the GP and tell them want they want or need, for example antibiotics or tell them that they have a illness.

At this point I was getting quite upset as the doctor was obviously using my accent as a reason to make a point about how things are done in this country (even though I have been a UK citizen for over 10 years) so I told the doctor said that they are the doctor and should be able to tell me what is wrong with my daughter and not ask me to tell them what we need or what to prescribe.

I tried telling the doctor again that that she has been sick on and off now for nearly 3 weeks which does not seem normal and is a long time even for a Norovirus but the doctor didn't want to listen to me and instead was constantly interrupting me and asking what I know about t the Norovirus and whether she is my first child. The doctor made me feel like an idiot for worrying about her and bringing her in.

The doctor did check her temperature and looked into her ears but dint even touch and examine her tummy!

The whole episode was very upsetting, the GP was completely dismissive of me and my daughter and coincidentally my husband was out of the country at the time so I really just wanted to make sure she was okay and expected the GP to examine her thoroughly, be comforting and explain the issue or at least answer why she was so listless now and what it had been going on for nearly 3 weeks now but it could not of been more opposite, instead the doctor constantly interrupted me when I was talking, told me they couldn't no do anything to help her and they would rather just call the hospital than waste time arguing with me. I did ask if the doctor could call the hospital then (my visit lasted around 20 mins). Within this time the doctor grab the phone twice to call the hospital but never actually dialled the number. I then left. I hope someone else with Children does not have to go through this!
