I gave birth to my first child at Medway Hospital back in January this year. I was almost 2 weeks overdue so had to be induced. Once my waters had been broken, I went over to the delivery suite for (what I thought) a straightforward delivery. However, the Midwife detected that my blood pressure was extremely high so called in another midwife for a second opinion. Then a team of doctors were called and it was discovered that I had pre-eclampsia so I had to deliver quickly. After several unsuccessful attempts at pushing I was quickly transferred to theatre for a caesarean - I voiced my concerns about having a caesarean and felt that I was really listened to. They agreed to try to deliver my baby using forceps - so after an epidural and 4 pushes, my beautiful baby boy was delivered safely.
I honestly feel that things could have gone so wrong had it not been for the amazing care of the Midwife and the team of Doctors. I am forever grateful for the care that I received throughout my labour. They even came to see us on the ward the next day to check how we were doing which was so appreciated.
I will not hesitate to have my next child at this hospital.
