"induction leading to cat 2 c-section"

About: Kettering General Hospital / Maternity

Scheduled to be inducted due to potential hypertension on 18th April however due to reduced fetal movements we went to labour ward late 11th April . Baby fine but told if movement didnt pick up to call fetal health in morning to have another monitoring. Had monitoring and told because this was second episode in two days we could be induced early as baby’s movement although ok had still reduced so we were checked into rowan ward on the 12th with induction to start morning of 13th . On 13th was given pessary which had no effect . On 14th given propress and again no effect . On morning of 15th was taken down to have waters broke and started on drip tobhsve contractions , 16 hours later still not dilated so given cat 2 csection to have my little one . I which the my found out that they were face first and if I had dilated it would have resulted in c-section anyway for the safety of me and my little one All the way through I was kept informed of what they were doing . What next steps were and given options . I was then cared for after in Rowan ward for three days after . I can’t thank the staff enough for making my really tough experience really stress free and letting me stay in control and giving the care they did . I was made to feel nothing was too much for them to do and every single one of the midwife . Matrons . Health care assistants . Theatre staff . Surgeons etc were fantastic and made sure I was relaxed and calm the whole way through . They also made sure my husband was ok and given all information he needed to be able to support me as if must have been a scary experience for him as well . From the bottom of my heart I thank you all

Thank you very much for your positive comment. I am pleased to hear that you were kept informed and options were discussed with you. I will ensure that this is shared with theatre, deliver and Rowan staff.

Kind regards

Polly Leigh–Midwifery Matron
