"Staff attitude towards patients"

About: South Axholme Practice

Yesterday I had to visit Haxey surgery in order to order request an emergency prescription of sight saving eye drops.

The staff and process involved in acquiring an emergency prescription from Haxey surgery was first class.

However, the Epworth Hub became involved in the process later that day and that was were it all went pear shaped, fraught and very stressful to me.

A nurse practitioner at the hub was supposed to call me that day at 1.30pm with news regarding the emergency prescription of eye drops prescribed for glaucoma which are necessary to prevent damage to the optic nerve eventually leading to blindness.

I did not receive the very urgent phone call from the nurse at the Epworth Hub.

I phoned the hub number and was spoken to by a number of different people all of who did not listen to me, spoke over me and were more interested in advising me that I should call my doctors and sort out the emergency prescription myself.

I found the attitude of the Epworth Hub staff that spoke to me regarding my emergency prescription to be arrogant, unhelpful, ignorant and more concerned about protecting their own empire and processes than helping me with my emergency.

Not a helpful or a happy experience and on this example find it very difficult to see how the CQC awarded the Hub a good rating.
