I have heard alot about many different doctors surgeries over the last month and in the main it's how usually based around how impossible it is to get an appointment. I can honestly say we have never struggled to get a slot when we have needed one. For either the children or myself, They are always there when we need them. Whenever we call, the receptionists are courteous, polite and welcoming and always do as much as possible to assist.
When I've had appointments (sometimes with different doctors) every single one of them has listened, asked questions, And recommended options. The care I've received has been exemplory, mainly with a view to dealing with mental health. Decisions taken are always with my involvement, And my opinion. I've found the doctors and locums to be knowledgeable, up to date and caring.. The aftercare when I've been on medication for an extended time has been reviewed regularly and timely, with a special focus on how i feel about the effects of the medicine. I always feel as if the doctors have my best interests at heart and genuinely aren't worried about spending time with patients and if it goes over the standard "allocated" time slot then so be it. A telephone appointment can often be just as useful and the doctors are happy for this to be chosen, however you can be rest assured that if an appointment is needed then one will be booked straightaway.
Whenever I see people complaining if the doctors are running over time wise at the surgery, I always try and remind them that it's most likely because the doctor is spending extra minutes with people who are unwell, the vulnerable and the ill. If it takes a little longer to reassure, to explore symproms or to physically check things over the doctors are not afraid to do this. After all, no one complains if their own appointment lasts longer than 10 minutes. Two doctors especially go above and beyond; a part of the job they encourage all staff to execute well.
It's important to remind ourselves that these surgeries are operating under huge pressures and stresses often down to no fault of their own. I firmly believe however that whatever the booking process is at Engleton, it should be rolled out across the city. Waiting days, sometimes weeks for an appointment is unheard of for patients of this surgery (as far as im aware)
Please accept my thanks and gratitude for the services you provide and pass this review to all staff.
"A great surgery...definately getting it right"
