I was admitted via the NHS for a hernia repair by keyhole surgery, and my experience could not have been better. My room was spotlessly clean. Every member of staff with whom I came into contact was friendly and helpful. My surgeon and anaesthetist came on the ward to see me, and asked if I had any further questions at that stage. I was the next to last patient on the operating list that afternoon. The nurse assigned to me introduced herself, and kept me updated as to the likely time I would go to theatre. At about 5pm it was my turn, and the staff who would be looking after me introduced themselves before I lay down on the trolley to be anaesthetised. A warm blanket covered me, the needle went in on the back of my hand, and I awoke wondering if I'd simply dozed - which of course I hadn't, the operation was finished. A friendly nurse's voice told me what was happening as final checks were made on my dressings, and then it was back to the ward. The anaesthetic had left me feeling queasy, but this was remedied before I was allowed to go home. I received the highest possible standards of care during my stay, and would recommend Woodthorpe Hospital to anyone. Thank you all for looking after me so well.
