"Crohn's disease patient at Burton"

About: Queen's Hospital, Burton Upon Trent / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I suffer with Crohn's disease and was admitted to stay for a week at Burton as my gut had swelled. I did not have any problems with my stay and all the nurses and doctors attended to my needs.

When I was discharged I was only given a full dose of my steroids for one week, and was then to take nothing. I did as the doctor had told me, however was re-admitted. The consultant I saw was livid at this and explained that I should have been taken off the steroids gradually by reducing them over a longer period of time.

So I was injected with more steroids and this time left with a proper plan for my medication.
