"Inconsiderate receptionist"

About: Milton Road Surgery

When asking to make an appointment to see the nurse regarding something really personal. The receptionist badgered me onto sayimg what was wrong. I said over and over again that it was personal. But she didn't give in. Even the other receptionist said just put personal. But she would not listen. So I said it was a less embarrassing problem just to get an appointment. I left feeling uncomfortable and bullied.

Dear Patient,

Thank you for your comments. I am so sorry you were made to feel uncomfortable by our receptionist. Reception staff ask for a brief description of your problem so that they can book you in with the most appropriate clinician. You should not feel under pressure to tell them anything you do not want to. Reception staff are told to mark the appointment as personal if the patient would rather not give a reason and I have today spoken to all of our staff about this. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me at the surgery.
