My husband
David sadly died in the CTICU on 15th April after being admitted after a cardiac arrest.
Despite everyone's efforts, he was not strong enough to sustain a recovery.
We want to pay tribute to the wonderful support from the ICU ward and palliative care team.
They did everything possible to try to save David.
He was treated with the utmost skill, kindness, dignity and compassion.
As a family we were supported throughout the process.
We are immensely grateful to the staff, who took us every step of the way with them - explaining and involving us in every - often very painful - decision that had to be taken.
The consultants were always available, and we spoke with them every day.
Although there was a different nurse caring for my husband almost every day, there was a consistency of care (at a very high level) that we greatly appreciated.
All the staff were responsive to every request we made, and all the time they were looking after us, as well as my husband.
This had to end sadly - we knew this - but we simply could not have asked for more.
"CTICU; skill, dedication, kindness - beyond..."
