"Labour and post natal care"

About: Airedale General Hospital / Maternity

Excellent support and care

Anti-natally we had attended the groups and parent ed classes, facilitated two experienced and inspiring midwives, the classes were invaluable as were their advise and guidance. i hope that such provisions will continue to be funded by the NHS, particularly the hypno birthing, i do believe that Airedale really is leading the way in this.

Our journey started in the early hours of 20.3.18.

Myself and my partner would like to firstly extend our greatest appreciation and thanks to the labour ward and ward 21 staff.. we started off our birthing journey as planned, with hypno-birthing and the water pool, it was later that intervention was required

During this time the midwife and student midwife were unbelievable in their support they gave me and also my partner, what would have been very traumatic was actually made less so with their re- assurance and continued presence. when i felt all was lost they never gave up on me. They worked the full 12 hour shift (and more) with little if any break time.

We would also like to extend our feedback to the surgical team performing my emergency c section, whom responded to both our worries and reduced our anxieties, both pre, during and post surgery. The surgeon even went out of her way to visit us 2 days after to ensure we were ok and offered us a 'de brief' to help us digest what had happened and enable us to start the emotional recovery.

The post surgery care from the midwives was again invaluable, having been in labour over 2 days and exhausted, they attended to our emotional and physical needs.

I was further cared for in Ward 21, for 3 days , again the care, kindness and support helped me recover and start being a mum. thank you,

Myself and my partner both feel that everyone went above and beyond their duties and roles and it is that we want to be recognised by senior management and decision makers, I work in a similar industry and recognise that this is not always the case, i hope therefore that this email is recognised and shared.
