"They were a life saver for me"

About: One Recovery Bucks / High Wycombe

(as the patient),

In desperation for help in my struggle with a drink problem I went to see my GP who put me in touch with One Recovery High Wycombe Bucks - despite years of trying to get it under control and intermittent fellowship with the AA I decided I had nothing to lose by giving One Recovery a call.

I’m so glad I did - four months on and I am sober and living a satisfying and happy alcohol free life thanks to the one to one counselling from my Key Worker Tony who was so encouraging and well informed about the devastation that follows with alcohol addiction.

I also attended some group sessions which were an added help during a difficult time. I can’t thank Tony enough for his professionalism and advice and the team at One Recovery High Wycombe who work tirelessly to help anyone with a desire to stop or help control their drinking habits.

For me personally it was complete abstinence - I can now unequivocally say that I cannot take any alcohol and my Key Worker helped me, following several sessions to come to this conclusion.

For anyone looking for help and someone to talk to, especially if you’ve tried other methods, don’t give up trying and pick up the phone - give One Recovery a call ask for their help- they were a life saver for me.

One small thing that I think could be improved is if there were more group sessions in the evenings.

Dear Jemima,

Thanks so much for your essential feedback. It is fantastic to hear how well you doing in your recovery, we never give up hope that people can change.

Tony is a really valued member of our team, is knowledge, skills, care and compassion really do shine through, its a real honour to have him as part of our team. I will ensure he hears your feedback.

I take on board your feedback regarding opening more groups on an evening, this is something we are trying to explore as we already open 2 evenings a week in High Wycombe.

Thank you for promoting our service using your own experience, we know this can be really effective for engaging people wanting to change but have barriers such as fear of the unknown.

Continue accessing all that you find useful in our aftercare Recovery Network, this can support your long term abstinence. Now you have made the decision to remain abstinence AA can be a valuable asset for long term recovery.

Thanks again for taking time to feedback, and I wish you all the very best with your recovery journey.

Regards

Tracy
