"No care"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency

I visited A&E in agony with what I thought was sciatic pain, barely able to walk, I was seen by a nurse and then by a Badger 'Doctor'.... was told to just keep taking medication GP had given, which wasn't working after 2 weeks of trying. This was unfortunately over the Easter holiday when GP was closed for 5 days. Left in tears not knowing how I was going to cope with the pain.

Condition worsened and went back to A&E the next day.

Saw a nurse who then said I'd have to see a 'Clinician'.

Was left in agony in a cubicle for 45 minutes, listening to nurses laughing and joking and moaning about having been sent to that dept from another.

The department wasn't busy.

A passing health worker asked us if we needed help, as I was on my knees in pain, we said yes, we'd been waiting a long time.

I was then given some pain relief and an impatient 'doctor' came with the nurse to say that as my pain was only on one side, and I couldn't answer his question as to what other symptoms, other than pain I had, ?? there was no chance of a scan, so go home and take pain relief. I tried to explain that it was unbearable pain but got no reaction.

Next day, I went to a private clinic to get an MRI scan, which shows serious reasons why I was in such pain and distress.

Please - don't expect any care from this A&E dept.

They don't care.

From the miserable receptionist who booked me in (honestly, from her manner, you could tell she absoultely hated her job) to the short sharp tempered doctor who dismissed my pain without even examining me, my whole experience was awful. I'll never go there again willingly.
