"Unsatisfactory assessment and waiting time"

About: Crawley Hospital

I took my 9 month son to the ugent care centre as he had high fever for 24 hours. We had to wait 2 hours to be seen even though there were only 2 children to be seen before us. It looked like the doctor was sitting in his room not doing much, just walking back and forth from his room to his office over and over again not making eye contact. By which time my baby was getting very agitated as his painkillers were running out.

We were finally seen by another doctor. I do not recall her name but she said our thermometer probably needed to be recalibrating even though it is a good ear one which has always been reliable in the past. She said that he had a slight sore throat and didn't even look in his ears. I had to ask her to do so. she made no comment but said they were waxy. she sent us on our way without anything and so I thought i was making a fuss about nothing.

When I got home, my baby had blue cold feet, lips and hands. I took him to our gp and his fever was 39.9 celsius. He referred us to East Surrey hospital where they diagnosed him with an ear and throat infection which was quite far along and needed urgent medication. I'm so pleased I went to my gp tp get a second opinion. I will not be going back to Crawley walk in centre again if i can help it.
