"Unable to get an appointment for a week "

About: South Gloucestershire PCT

(as the patient),

I had a lesion on my leg which I was concerned about. I tried to get an appointment but couldn't get one for a week. I went to a Pharmacist who told me that a week was far to long. He advised me to go to a walk in clinic which I did but they refused to see me as my problem was not an injury. I went to another Pharmacy who said I should go to another walk in clinic which was 25 miles away. I did this only to have to wait for 1.1/2 hours (I didn't mind that). The nurse said that my lesion may have underlying symptoms but she could not prescribe me the antibiotics she thought I needed and recomended I ring my local out of hours service.

This I did and was FINALLY give the chance to see a doctor, who told me that had I waited until my doctors appointment, I would have landed up in hospital with sever cellulitis and a drip in my arm as the lesion I had was very serious and I was very lucky that I caught it when I did.

I feel like complaining about this but I don't know where to start or how to go about it.

To crown it all, when the doctor I saw referred my to the practice nurse she gave me dressings and advised that I see a nurse at my practice on Monday.

There are no appointments with any nurse at my surgery for two months!

What am I supposed to do?
