"Worst hospital I've ever been to"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / General surgery

The nurses are rude and have demeaning tones, they scoffed at me when I said my husband was bored sitting in a hospital bed all day and wanted his phone to entertain him. One nurse in particular basocally yells every word she speaks, im pretty sure the man next to us doesnt need the whole hospital to know his prostate cancer has progressed and he is dying. My husband needs a post surgical binder but the entire hospital has absolutely none in his size so they have given him one that is too big and doesn't do what it is supposed to do. I was told to get a chair from the family room, so I chose a comfortable one because I am sitting in here all day with my husband and was told by the nurse no I'm not allowed that chair I have to sit on a hard plastic one with no padding at all. This hospital is a joke. Maybe along side the medical training for nurses they should also find some bedside manner. Told i can't sit in my husband's bedside chair because of cross contamination but then they left a rubbish bin full of rubbish open right next to him, you're telling me that's not cross contamination??! I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Thank you for leaving feedback and I am sorry your experience is not reflective of the standard of care and treatment we strive to achieve. If your husband is still an inpatient we would advise asking to speak with a Senior Sister or Matron to raise your concerns. As we do aim to resolve any concerns as soon as possible. Alternatively our Patient Services Team work Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm and are contactable on 0114 271 1797 or by email at pst@sth.nhs.uk

With thanks and best wishes
