"Devastated daughter"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter visited her doctor early March after doing several positive pregnancy tests, she was then referred to the queen Elizabeth maternity unit for her first antenatal appointment very excited as you can imagine, this went well bloods taken weight and urine sample the usual first appointment stuff, sent home with her wee mother to be information pack scan date later in April. Recently she had a bleed tried to phone the early pregnancy unit several times no answer, so then being so worried decided to go to local A& E, there she waited a few hours to be seen which was fine understandably busy.  No referral. When she was taken in she was given a physical examination was told everything seemed fine, these things can happen in early pregnancy she didn't see any problem and advised my daughter for peace of mind to come back in the morning to see if they can bring her scan date forward, being worried she decides to do this.

she went in was given a scan only to be told very bluntly "there's nothing there doesn't look like there was ever anything there we'll take bloods and call you in the morning with the results" Bearing in mind this nurse is talking to someone who for weeks has been mentally preparing for bringing a baby into the world. Tut tut no compassion I understand these nurses are very busy but surely compassion is a requirement in this line of work.

anyway my daughter after a very sleepless and emotional night received her phone call early this morning and was told "oh your bloods have came back you are in the early stages of pregnancy come in on Monday we'll take more bloods".  now as you can imagine she was very excited and called her partner to give him the good news, during the phone call the nurse phoned her back only to tell her she'd given her the wrong results and "there's no pregnancy hormones in the blood sorry goodbye".

I am so angry right now these nurses are dealing with people's emotions and well being they cannot afford to make mistakes like this, also how is this even possible surely everyone has a patient number with a name beside it she used the correct name when she called her the first time this problem needs to be addressed.

Needless to say my daughter is devastated by this unnecessary blunder.
