"Awaiting Surgery"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / General surgery

I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with a condition called 'Divarication of The Rect', also an Umbilical Hernia - My consultant surgeon, told me that nothing could be done. He gave me no other information. My GP's husband is a colorectal surgeon so I asked her what else could be done as the hernia was getting to be very large & uncomfortable. His advice was also to do nothing. Unfortunately, the hernia got so bad & the pain side effects of it got so bad the GP referred me back to my consultant surgeon. I was sent for a CT scan which confirmed the extent of the hernia & also 'Stones in my Gall Bladder'.

I eventually had my appointment /consultation in November '17, where it was confirmed that I needed surgery. I did not hear anything else until I requested a consultation with my son who is very concerned. This was in February '18, where the extent of surgery was explained to us. My consultant surgeon said the operation would probably be in May. Today I rang his Secretary & she informed me I was not on the list for May & it would now probably be the end of June. My condition has got so bad that I am not leaving home unless I really have to. as my back pain is appalling & I am embarrassed about how hideous I look.
