Well, what can I say. My mum has been poorly for the last 10 days. A doctor has visited her once and gave her some advice. She tried to get another call out today, as she is unable to leave her house. She is complaining of breathing difficulties and continued stomach problems and says she feels very weak. I was told that my mother could only go on the list for a doctors visit and that she should dial 999. We are loathe to call 999 as we feel that she just needs some reassurance and that she does not need to go into hospital. She is 89 years old and does not want to burden the local hospital but she does need some medical care. Luckily she has just phoned charterhouse surgery again and this time spoke to someone who has managed to arrange a home visit. No wonder local emergency services are so stretched when the elderly have such poor care from their GPS.
