"Lost records and no funding"
Posted by scruffy123 (as ),
I have suffered with a bowel incontinence for the last ten years and feel very annoyed that I have had to wait and fight for the right to have the sacral nerve stimulation.
I have had a battle to gain funding for the operation and this was taken up with the PCT. It took a total of 18 months, and although I was warned that it could take a while, my records going missing added a further three months to this. I was originally seen at Samuel Johnson in Lichfield but then was sent to Good Hope. It was the PCT that insisted that I underwent all these tests to prove that I needed this operation even though my doctor knew it was needed.
Even on the day of the operation it was touch and go if I would have it done as they had over-run on appointments and I was last on the list. I was luckily seen and was also out the same day.
All the doctors and nurses have been great from the tests and operation to the follow up appointments and treatments. I have the consultants number to call any time I need to ask a question and this is very reassuring for me.
