I visited oncology today with my husband who has been treated there for the last 13 years,..all the staff are friendly, kind and always try to make our appointments go smoothly...my husbands consultant has always treated him with the utmost care and has been a life saver......the only thing that lets Addenbrookes down is the pharmacy..today we waited 2 hours and 25 minutes to obtain his medication,,we were told “up to an hour “ to wait..after two hours i asked about his prescription only to be told it was available but would take up to 45 minutes “to label”...the letter that was being given out to patients said the medication would be ready “in a timely manner”...I am aware of the procedure that it has to go through for this medication but two hours plus is unacceptable ...we have waited three hours on several occasions...there were several other patients also upset for the wait..surely cancer patients should be able to obtain lifesaving medication just a little quicker?
