"Child assessment unit"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

We were sent down to the cau from the gp on a very busy Thursday night. The waiting room was full and the doctors and nurses were all run off their feet but never once did the care slip. My 3 year daughter had a temperature over 40c which calpol wasn't bringing down and was breathing fast really lethargic and was complaining of tummy pains. Everyone was so patient with her even after she went on a verbal strike after having a canular fitted so the medicine could be put directly in her arm and when she was being sick everywhere someone was there to reassure her .

I was kept in the loop with it all and everything was explained really well so I knew what was going on and any questions I had were answered fully and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

we ended up having to come back to the hospital for 5 days to pact clinic and the unit to have antibotics into her canular. We also had to come back to the unit as some new symptoms showed up and to be on the safe side we were advised to bring her back in. Once again dispite the unit being busy we were looked after.

I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone who dealt with us for the 5 days for making a worrying time a little more bearable and a special thank you to the nurse who looked after us in the pact clinic my daughter emma was talking about you for days after our appointment with her.

keep up the good work I for one am very grateful for the care we received and now know that we are in good hands should we ever require it again

Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us. I am pleased that you had a positive experience with us, despite the circumstances, and will of course share your feedback with the staff involved in your daughter's care as I am sure they will be pleased to receive it.

Kind Regards

Kathy
