I went for my eye check at the opticians in May and they were worried that I might have glaucoma and said they would send me to hospital for tests. I had not heard anything for weeks and was going to go back to the opticians to check they had sent my information off when I had a letter come through telling me I had an appointment in July at Solihull Hospital.
My appointment was for 8:30 am and I was not told what the procedure would be or how long I should expect this to be on the appointment letter.
When I arrived there was 4 other people waiting and I was not called until 9:10. I was first seen by a nurse to anaesthetise my eye, the nurse did tell me what was going to happen but I thought they could have been a little more friendly and made more in way of a conversation.
I then had several checks on my eyes and then saw a doctor. The other people I saw were all friendly and told me exactly what was going to happen and this made me feel more comfortable and less worried. I was free to go at 10:40 am and I didn’t think this would have taken so long. I do not mind that it did as I am very worried that if I have glaucoma then this would mean that I would have to stop driving. I just think that it would have been better to state in the letter that the appointment and tests will take this long. I have been told now that my results will take up to 3 months.
