"I am glad to be off the drink"

About: Phoenix Futures / Trafford drug and alcohol services

(as the patient),

I was drinkin a lot over many years n the problem with me was not drinking all day or every day, even, but just that when i did drink, mayb 3-4 days a week, I would get agressive alot of times after drink, I would get agressive with anybody around me and my girlfriend mainly has she was the 1 that was always with me and my agressive and violence got that bad, it got to the point where social services removed me from my home and so I was away from my girlfriend and children and it was only then, after 3yr with my girlfriend and after many chances, I finally realised I had to become tee-total.

I have finally realised drink was ruining my life and it certainly wasn't making me happy, whilst I love my girlfriend so much, I really didn't have any control once I was drinking. I was refered to Phoenix Futures through R.A.M.P, however I didn't join because I felt I could still have a drink and it was only when I was removed from my home that I woke up and realised alcohol and me have to end are realationship!! And I for one are glad to be off the drink and to look at my future without alcohol because alcohol is n has not made me happy. I don't believe I could keep off drink without the support of Phoenix Futures. I mainly come for the group sessions for times a week
