"Inappropriate questions and no response in 4 months"

(as a friend),

I am writing on behalf of a friend who contacted PALS over 4 months ago after being asked many inappropriate questions by a healthcare provider. She has had to call several times a week and has yet to get a response. She keeps getting fobbed off and has now given up. This makes me really angry as my friend has been left high and dry, trying to chase people that should be helping her. I don't know how much funding PALS get but the service might as well not exist! I think the the NHS is going down the pan with this level of poor service

Dear Shamin

I am sorry that you feel that your friend has been fobbed off and let down by the service. The Patient Experience Team, (Formally Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) is there to help when you have a question, concern or need some help and advice. However it is apparent from your post that you feel this is not the case with your friend. We always endeavour to answer patient concerns in a compassionate and timely manner, but depending on the circumstance the response may not be that which is expected by the patient which can lead to anger, disappointment and a feeling of being let down. If your friend would like to discuss this further she can do so by contacting me on 0115 9934542.
