"As a first time mum they really reassured me"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Maternity

(as the patient),

I was bought into Treliske maternity via ambulance from Penrice birthing centre as my labour wasn’t progressing and my daughter was in distress.

The staff there were all expecting my arrival, I was taken straight into my room and the midwives and doctor was there setting up already.

My midwife was called Caroline Freeborn and was amazing. She explained everything to me and was really comforting. All the staff there were really supportive and very patient. Once my daughter had arrived safely via ventouse, my midwife stayed with me. She completely put my mind at ease throughout the whole delivery and afterwards was a huge help in teaching me how to breastfeed.

I had a bath run for me and was assisted when trying to move around the room. The staff came and checked on us often and even bought my partner some tea and toast.

I can’t thank the staff at Treliske Maternity enough, as a first time mum they really reassured me and were so supportive.
