I had felt ill and bothered by a persistent cough for almost 6 days. What was more troublesome to me was aching neck muscles . I had found rising off the bed excruciating. This prompted me to call 111 and I felt good about their preparedness to monitor. The 111 nurse rang shortly after my first experience of clear heavy phlegm. That was a relief to see clear evidence of infection. The nurse suggested that I come down to Abingdon MIU at 8.15.
The Doctor took her own history from scratch and quickly made my chest infection the main target. How right she was : an aching neck was hardly a serious risk, but the chest infection was a different matter. Yet two minutes before the examination began the issue uppermost in my mind was the neck pain. The Doctor didn't need to spell it out it was a clear realisation.
From first call to 111, the second call tom111, the call back from the Nurse and the consultation with the Doctor, all went smoothly. I have had six days on antibiotics and my chest is improving. Last serious cough was yesterday. Neck improving with help from anti-inflammatory medication .
I am very grateful to all concerned. They proceeded at a thoroughly professional pace. Text book!!!
Thanks to all.
