"Felt like in a cattle market"

About: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

On my records it clearly say has panic atacks if waiting around.i was told to be at the hospital for 7.30 I sat in a room that was completely full of people who were being called to leave the room it was after 10 o'clock before I was called I gave some details then was sent back again until 10.30 after some questions I again was sent back again. At 11 o'clock I was told to change and I sat on a bed waiting to go to theatre. I came round in recovery at 3 o'clock and was told there were no beds my husband came at 6 o'clock but was told he could not see me as it was full in recovery he went home as they could not say when he could see me . I got a bed at 7 o'clock and someone said they would get me some toast as I hadn't eaten fo over 26 hours, but no food came , so I only had water all night which made me sick not having eaten. 8.30 next morning I was told I could leave . 9.30 they said they would get my tablets I was taken to a small room where the TVs was on so loud and showing sports I felt ill . When I was handed over to be taken to this room the nurse on the ward said I wasn pain and could I be given tablets ,I was never given any .i was told 2 hours to wait for my tablets I asked if i could have the prescription but was told no it's being done and would be ready by 11.30 it was nearly 12 o'clock when I got them so I was waiting 2 and a half hours here by this time I was quiet distressed and was going to leave before being discharged I spoke to the nurse who said it wouldn't be much longer . On the ward I saw an elderly lady taken for a wash twice in half an hour by 2 different people . There was one old lady taken out of bed washed and put in a chair she was told she needed to be out of bed 10 minutes later she asked another nurse if she could go to bed that nurse tidied her bed and put her back . Then 15 minutes later 2 nurses got her up took her for another wash and sat her up again . The staff did not seem to tell each other what had been done . The old lady at the side of me was put on a comod all day and night when the therapy nurse came she said the women should be walking to the toilet not using the commode she hadn't moved for days.
