After two years of increased health anxiety and depression due to unresolved issues around previous NHS hospital treatment, I finally asked for help and was offered CBT, which seems to the the NHS's 'new best thing'. First therapist was useless, but mercifully emigrated to Australia halfway through my treatment! I was then shuffled off onto another therapist, who was great - until she was suddenly relocated to a new area. First I was told the sessions would last until June, then it was May, then the end of April - then, whoops, my therapist had holiday booked, so would I mind wrapping things up by the second week of April? Then I got a 'phone call to say my therapy could be extended for a few sessions, if necessary. By this time I was reeling and just wanted to put an end to the whole, incredibly painful process. Three months on, I am struggling to rebuild my life - the follow on number my therapist gave me has been changed to a fax only number and, when I finally tracked down the right number via the internet I was informed that there is no possibility - ever - of having any further contact with my therapist. I am left feeling abandoned, desperate, suicidal and worthless and this whole experience has undermined all of the work I did in therapy. I wish fervently that I had never allowed myself to fall into the clutches of the NHS mental health service.

I was very sorry to read of your experience and concerned that contact with the Trust had exacerbated your anxiety at an already difficult time. The situation you have described is absolutely not the standard of service we would wish to provide and on that basis I would strongly urge you to contact me directly in order that this matter can be investigated further.
