"Support following my leg amputation"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow WestMARC (West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre)

(as the patient),

I've been visiting the West Marc service as they have given me a prosthetic leg. They have all been very good, it's a superb process. It was hurting in places but they altered it for me to make it better and I have another appointment in another 4 weeks or so. All of the staff are so kind, from the receptionists right up to the person who looks at my leg. In my case I think they've done brilliantly, the lady I see is called Barbara. I was in hospital for five and a half months following surgery which resulted in a clot behind my knee, they tried to fix it but it didn't work so they has to amputate below my knee. Between the Queen Elizabeth and Golden Jubilee I can't believe how brilliant the the doctors and nurses were, they were just so kind and nothing was a bother for them. Following up from getting out of hospital they have given me this prosthetic leg and I'm slowly getting used to it now but I won't be doing any gymnastics any time soon! I just wanted to thank everyone for doing such a great job and being so helpful

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your story on Care Opinion.

I am delighted to hear that you are happy with the care you have received within WestMARC. It’s always lovely to read when people particularly highlight some of the human support offered by a variety of the staff as well as highlighting the people that are primarily providing you with support. We are all wishing you well as you undertake your Rehab journey.

I will ensure to share your story with the team and with Barbara in particular who will be very pleased to read your feedback.

Thank you again for posting your story.

Kind Regards
