"Poor overall experience !"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham / Maternity care

Ward 10 - dirty filled bed pans accumulated in patients toilets. These should be immediately taken to sluice by staff using ppi for analysis. Major infection control risk.

Health care assistant s within ward 10 require training and supervision of how to check a patients clinical observation and record appropriate. I had my respiration rate not checked and documented inaccurate on every occasions. I also witnessed hcas saying just put the score in as ..... There fore will not trigger team to come onto unit when lady apparently clearly well!!!! Ews training, escalation of care and recognition of deteriorating patients is clearly being missed therefore patient safety is totally compromised.

Same sex accommodation

Appauled was in four bedder antenatal. A lady was brought in for iol with her partner at approx 1900hrs her husband stayed with her in chair overnight. I believe the dignity of us ladies was compromised. I couldn't rest, change ect as they both carried on all nights. The partner was using all toilets around the bay and wasn't the most hygienic of people.

No med round on ward during my stay having to ask for reg analgesia and px abx.

Several midwife's rude in attitude and displayed extremely poor levels of communication.

Clinical skills and knowledge base of ladies medical problems Inc pre existing poor - possibly related to midwifery training programme.

I was given IM steriods into my latts dorsi lower region instead of buttock were is evidence base ! Very worrying indeed
