I went to A&E because a double vision problem I developed would not clear after a weekend
of rest and my GP didn't seem to be the best option (after seeking advice on the NHS website).
Triage was understandably delayed due to the Monday influx of
GP referrals flooding in
from the local practices, but as I wasn't in pain and physically mobile it was acceptable.
Once I was assessed and saw a consultant I received a
CAT brain scan within a couple
of hours and a follow-up MRI the next day.
Had I presented myself the same evening
I had the symptoms (which I put down to tiredness despite a sudden onset of lethargy ) I would have been triaged rapidly, instead
I
used what seemed to help on previous onsets of tiredness.
I was admitted to the stroke unit after a bed was free and was completely overwhelmed
by an impressively high standard of care and cleanliness with highly pleasant staff.
The consultants were highly capable and sociable as were the nurses and support staff.
In its entirety my experience was highly positive.
"Kind ,highly professional dedicated..."
