I came here as I was in severe pain with tonsillitis, 111 advised I needed to be seen within 6 hours and I could get into my doctors so I attended the urgent care unit. The GP here took a look at my throat and said ‘oh it looks abit red’ (I actually had white spots all over my tonisils and mouth) and then refused to give me antibiotics to treat it and told me to ‘wait’ and book in with my doctors (it was a bank holiday easter weekend so I would of had to wait 5 days for this). I had not eaten, drank or slept for 2 days and thus a further day as I was sent home by this GP with no prescription. I was in that much pain I had to ring 111 again the following morning who again advised me I need to be seen again within 6 hours. This time I decided to visit a walk in centre in Leeds, the GP took one look at my tonsils, looked extremely concerned and asked me why the GP in York didn’t prescribe me the antibiotics yesterday??? I was in unecessary pain, dehydrated and vomitting because the GP couldn’t see that I had tonsillitis. Absolutely shocking.
"Wasn’t given the medication I needed"
