I attended Pontefract Hospital on 29/03/2018 for a Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy procedure.
I was extremely apprehensive and concerned about this invasive procedure as I had been advised it was painful and had certain risks.
My choice of hospital was Dewsbury, close to where I live but I was offered an appointment at Pontefract so had to travel some distance for an 08:15 appointment.
Whilst these procedures are by nature, to say the least uncomfortable, Pontefract is definitely the place to have it done. The staff and Doctors showed complete professionalism in my treatment and for my dignity. Everything was explained along the way with confidence and reassurance.
When I had a panic during the Gastroscopy, the calm reassuring attitude of the staff enabled me to become calm and controlled.
The whole department are a credit to the hospital and the NHS at a time when the NHS are receiving a lot of criticism.
"Invasive Procedure."
