"NHS 111"

This is first time I have contacted NHS 111. I'm not one to make a fuss or ask for help unless I really am feeling unwell, as I don't like speaking on phone. I was greeted by a person who was blowing their nose and sneezing down the phone line to me. I nearly hung up. I was asked my date of birth, which I gave correctly, they couldn't find my details and miss-heard what I had said. I explained I had a private thyroid blood test done and has come back very low vitamin D levels of 15 and feeling unwell. I have actually been feeling more physically unwell since a week of having the test. I had just got test results back previous day showing up significant vitamin D deficiency. I told nhs 111 person my symptoms and she typed them in-low grade fever with hot/feverish cold, joint pain, headache, mid-low back pain going into legs, struggling to walk with weakness in legs, slight shortness of breath aswell. I explained my Mum is 3rd generation with Osteoperosis on maternal line.

I hadn't managed to contact my own G.P surgery earlier in day, due to not being well enough and mood very low, as low vit D can cause depression and low energy levels. I have been having crying breakdowns on my floor with this aswell the same day I contacted NHS 111 feeling completely depleted. I contacted NHS 111, due to it being beginning of bank holiday easter weekend. I havn't even been able sort out and get my prescription for my psychiatric medication due to feeling unwell with this. I couldn't walk there to get it. I live alone.

NHS person said someone would call me back. A doctor called back and I had to repeat symptoms again and explain. I ended up asking if I should go to my local supermarket to get some vit D supplements. And not sure how much I should take. No advice , guidance, or suggestions given, I had to ask the questions to get a response. Waste of time and energy.

I explained I have an appmt booked with my G.P in 3 weeks time. G.P didn't seem too bothered.
