"lack of patient choice and poor communication"

About: Berry Lane Medical Centre

Receptionists appear initially to help and try and book an appointment as requested but then when the appointment happens you find it has been changed without any information. There is no choice of doctor.

Despite the NHS England document on Patient Choice stating that "you can register with a GP practice somewhere that's more convenient for you, such as a practice near your work." in reality this does not exist. Berry Lane makes no effort to provide choice. I requested a female GP and was told that I needed to call the practice every day until I am told that the female GPs have a vacancy on their books. I was told that this would take 4 or 5 months of daily calling. Why can there not be a waiting list for customers wishing to switch GPs? We should be able to register with GPs near work. The sooner the system in London for telephone consultations is extended to the North the better. All fit healthy people could register with a practice that provided a modern up to date service. When I requested to make a formal complaint I was told I had to go into the surgery. Wake up - people work, they dont have the flexibility to go, complaints should be able to be made on line.
