"Missed appointment due to hospital transport..."

About: Barnet Hospital / General surgery

My mother was in hospital for 4 days with a broken leg, they put a temporary cast on her leg and was discharged with a follow up appointment at the fracture clinic 4 weeks later. The ward arranged the hospital transport on that occasion. There was a second follow-up appointment booked for another month later, but nobody would accept the responsibility of arranging the hospital transport. My mother is bed bound and unable to walk anyway, so it would be unsuitable to put her in taxi, she needs an ambulance.

I rang the hospital's transport dept, but they told me to ring the fracture clinic that arranged the appointment. The fracture clinic told me to ring the ward, but they said that they discharged her 6 weeks ago and to ring the transport dept. The ward eventually said that they would arrange the transport, but it didn't arrive. I had to make another appointment at the fracture clinic and it looks like I will have to go round he houses again, trying to get transport for the new date, together with arranging the carers to get her ready in the morning and travelling 50 miles myself to my mothers the night before the appointment.

Hello

Thank you for leaving a review; I am sorry for the problems you describe an can only imagine how stressful and frustrating it must be. I very much want to look into this and to ensure future transport ids sorted for you. Can you email me with your details to richardchester@nhs.net
