I'm a 74year old man and I was recently referred to the Acorns Service by my GP. I was concerned about a sudden change of bowel habit.
I was pleased to receive a prompt appointment, at the same time concerned because of the speed ( a man thing! ).
Initially I was assessed at the Acorn Service in the Elective Care Centre. I was immediately put at ease and examined, with explanations throughout. The staff were excellent, friendly and professional ! I was sent to the third floor Endoscopy Unit to make an appointment there and then.
I attended yesterday for my colonoscopy. I was full of trepidation and not a little nervous and embarrassed.
I needn't have worried, the nursing staff were excellent, ushering me to the changing room and explaining about my change of clothes etc.
I was then taken to the Endoscopy room for my examination.
I cannot praise the staff enough, the Endoscopists and nurses were excellent !!
The procedure was painless, although gas and air was on hand . I was reassured by the nursing staff over my embarrassment and the Doctor explained the procedure every step of the way.
Thank you so much, I wish I was allowed to name the individuals.
