"Excellent care before, during and after birth"

We just wanted to express our gratitude to everyone at the Peterborough City Hospital Maternity Department for the experience we had during the arrival of our son. We came in for induction on Tuesday 6th March and we couldn’t have hoped for a better experience. All of the staff that helped look after us before, during and after the delivery were absolutely amazing and gave us the most fantastic care. With this being our first child we were quite nervous coming into the hospital, but the calm and reassuring manner of all of the ward staff helped alleviate those feelings and make us feel comfortable and safe.

Requiring a forceps delivery meant we had to go through to theatre, and again the staff were all fantastic, explained everything that was happening and made what could have been a traumatic time a calm experience and allowed us to enjoy the arrival of our son.

We would like to say how great the midwife was that looked after us during the delivery. She made us feel at ease and was reassuring and comforting before, during and after, even coming to check how we were doing a day later and we couldn’t have wished for a more kind, caring and professional midwife. The aftercare we received was also first class, from helping new parents to dress and change their new baby, through to support with breastfeeding. Our son didn’t take to breastfeeding immediately, however due to the support we received from the Healthcare Assistant, he was feeding properly within a day. Without her experience and patience we most likely wouldn’t have succeeded

Again we would like to say thank you for such a positive experience and would not hesitate to recommend Peterborough’s maternity department and reiterate that the staff are a credit to the hospital
