My medical and nursing care was excellent. I can't fault the way I was looked after. The surgeon & medical staff were fantastic.
My problem was with the food. I let them know in advance I was a Coeliac (no wheat or gluten) The menu was poor, they had no idea about food issues. Unable to order even prawns. Couldn't even have grapefruit for breakfast. No drinks offered to guests. No night time refreshments. The catering staff were unable to understand about being a Coeliac.
I asked if the chef would call but nothing. After major surgery small amounts of tasty food is important. I had a piece of chicken with no gravy as it wasn't gluten free. Another time they gave me cous cous not gluten free. I lost all confidence in eating, and got my husband to bring me in snacks.
My room had no hot water, apparently they knew 3 weeks before my admission. I had to go to another room to shower.
I do need to envasize that my medical care was faultless, but even though I dislike complaining I do feel the food and menus need looking into. Making cut backs on food when a person is not feeling well is not to the patients benefit.
There are no patient questionnaires anymore why?
