"Some Reception Staff RUDE - Doctors were..."

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus) / Ophthalmology

I had an appointment to see a doctor as I have been suffering with blurry vision.

I first entered the hospital and the front desk said to me to go straight down the corridor and turn left.

When I entered the left corridors to find clinic 4 I had to pass accident and emergency. (I did not realise this at the time as I could see numbers 1 2 3 and 4 ) and thinking I was in the right place I just wanted to ask and check with someone.

One of the first receptionist wouldn’t even listen to me I tried to show my letter to check was I in the right place, she just waved her hand and said over there (pointing to another lady who requires you to fill in a form at another desk to get your seat ticket)

So I tired to ask the next lady with my letter in hand, waiting for her to finsih her personal conversation with another member of staff, she didn’t want to look at my letter or let me speak she just handed me a form and said take a seat.

I felt as if I wasn’t even there.

Once taken the form thinking it’s routine procedure to fill a form while waiting, I had sat down and realised I was in the wrong place, accident and emergency.

I got up again and said to the lady she didn’t listen and all I was trying to do is say that I turned left and was having difficulty and just wanted a bit of help.

I said that I didn’t like that she presumed and that talking about personal things when a customer is waiting is so rude, she then challenged me raised her voice and said you didn’t have a letter to show me, and said if I wanted to complain then go ahead and do it! She then looked at it and advised to go straight down the corridor. Very aggressively.

I was shocked to the lie she just told as I had a letter I hand but couldn’t get a word in to ask a simple question. It was so unnecessary.

Too much presumption and waving you off to the next member of staff to be someone else’s problem.

No customer care. It’s an eye hospital after all people have vision issues, can’t see signs clearly. A little compassion and support would have made all the difference.

Very disappointing, not looking forward to going back.

However once I got to where I needed to be the eye doctors I saw were amazing friendly, attentive and caring. What you should expect in a hospital
