I was in a difficult place after the passing of my youngest sister, who suffered years of alcohol addiction and unable to process the death of our mother.
My narration is about my journey, processing the emotional pain of loss. The support received through West London IAPT service and particularly my counsellor, who helped me along the road of loss, processing the impact this had upon my job and family. My counsellor Sarah, helped me open doors of my emotional pain, face them, understand them from my own values and experience, so I could move on, but keep my sister's memories close to my heart.
In the middle of all of our sessions, I also lost my brother, who I was not close to, but there was still an emotional attachment. Here, she help me, guided me to untangle the confusion and hurt I felt.
I felt in control and knew when the time had come to end our sessions and begin to move on with my life.
I will always be grateful for her support, understanding of some of the complexities surrounding Black families and I hope some insight into the spiritual importance of Rastafari, in terms of loss.
"Grateful for her support"
