Hi to whom this may concern,
I came into hospital on the 8th of March this year for a operation on my foot.
I came to the surgical day unit on the day of my operation and the nursing staff and doctors where very helpful and nice to me during my time on the ward.
However a short time after my operation i became dangerously dehydrated and ended up staying in over night although i was down as staying overnight and was not put onto a drip! i am not very happy that no one did any immediate action on this.
Also when i spoke to the anaesthetist about how i wanted to be put to sleep i expalined that i don't like the gas as i have a phobia of masks so would prefer to have a canular which did happen but was still insisted to have the mask despite me saying i have a phobia.
i also didn't have a pre med before i went to theatre so was very anxious and worked up before i went to theatre.
i am not wanting to complain as such as you are an amazing hospital and i have been a long term patient with yourselves and always will be but just feel that some improvement should be made and patients should be listened to and have right to be put to sleep in a way they feel comfortable.
Overall everyone on the surgical day unit looked after me very well and thank you.
