"Amazing"

About: Circle-Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre

After a biopsy proved positive in December, I was referred to Circle to see a doctor.

I met the doctor in January. He asked me for the history of my nose problems, to which he listened whilst taking notes. He then asked some pertinent questions and then carefully checked my nose. The doctor then explained how MOHs surgery worked, what he expected to find, but also the worst case scenario.

My surgery was on Monday March 19th.

On arrival, the receptionist greeted us pleasantly and efficiently but told us we had to go to Gate G; I hadn’t read it correctly!

On reaching Gate G, we were called in to the ‘lounge’ and told we could help ourselves to hot drinks. My husband was also allowed to be with me, which I found very comforting as the day went on.

Throughout the whole process, the doctor explained exactly what he was going to do. After a couple of visits to theatre, I asked to see a ‘map’ which came back from the lab after each cut, and one of the doctor's team showed one to me and how it was used by the doctor.

After four visits to theatre, the doctor told me to have a look at the wound. This had to happen so that the next stage could be discussed. Again, I was given all the necessary information to make an informed decision! It was decided that I see another doctor and discuss what would be best. This doctor tried to contact a third doctor at that time but he was unavailable so an appointment was made to change my dressing -and hopefully meet the doctor if at all possible.

After a long and arduous day, I left the first two doctors to go to the ‘lounge’ and see my husband, at which point, I fell apart! Even though it was quite late, the doctors spoke to us both and tried to reassure us, which they did. At no time, did I feel I was a nuisance!

The next day, I received a call from the second doctor to let me know that he had spoken to the third doctor and that he would meet me when I was in the dressings area, which he did.

I met this doctor on Thursday March 22nd, and yet again, he explained the options clearly, in easily understood terminology. I felt as though everyone I met during the whole process, cared! My original doctor's team were unbelievable, trying to put me at ease throughout. If they thought I was about to lose it, they were there holding my hand and chatting to me about anything and everything!!!

There are no words good enough for me to explain how amazing the three doctors I saw and the team are! But they are!!!
