I have just come to the end of my year long treatment for breast cancer at Wycombe Hospital. I feel very lucky to have been looked after by such an amazing, talented, clever, hard working and compassionate team of health care professionals.
From the initial scans and biopsies for diagnosis, to the superb oncologist, the excellent surgeons who carried out a lumpectomy followed by a mastectomy and the breast care nurses, who explained the details of a mastectomy bra with great compassion and sensitivity.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
And then there were the fantastic chemo nurses at the Sunrise Unit. They saw me very frequently and supported me through all my ups and downs, my nausea, my aches and pains, and cumilitive effects of 7 chemo cycles. I was always greeted with a smile and an abundance of kindness not to mention the tips on how to deal with the harsh side affects of chemo. Thank you for making my chemo sessions bearable!
I came across an amazing set of volunteers during my cancer journey; wig specialists, reflexology experts, nutritionist, and even people providing cups of tea and biscuits! Thank you all for your self less work.
I'm very lucky to have access to such fantastic NHS facilities on my door step, lucky to have had the treatment and very lucky to be alive. God bless you all.
