"Excision of lesion BCC Right Nostril & Skin graft"

About: St Helens Hospital

I was lucky enough to get an appointment for this procedure the following afternoon and was so pleased to see how nice and clean the hospital was on arrival.

Everyone was friendly and welcoming from the receptionist to the nurses and Surgeon who did the procedure and I feel very lucky to have been given this appointment and had the treatment so quickly.

The Day Ward were lovely and caring and made me feel relaxed.

I had a photo done of my nose and was able to keep in touch with family and friends while waiting.

I had a locker to put my jewellery and bag in and given a key.

The surgeon came and discussed what was needed and marked my nose, ensuring I was happy with the decision and answered any questions with patience and kindness.

I was able to keep my clothing on under my gown and was taken into a small side room where the procedure was done.

During this I was chatted to, told what was being done and made to feel as comfortable as possible which made me feel reassured.

When it was finished I was shown a mirror and was happy to see what a fantastic and skilled job the surgeon had done on a tricky job and how it would look when healed.

I was given a ride back to my chair in the Day Ward and my temp, blood pressure and pulse was taken and then I was offered a nice cup of tea and a sandwich or biscuit.

As I couldn't drink the tea due to numbness, the nurse kindly produced a straw (it had cooled) for me to enjoy a very welcome drink.

I was given clear instructions on the after care of my nose, everything was explained very carefully and I had letters for the GP and one for me; a leaflet on aftercare and numbers to ring if worried and an appointment for a follow up

I cannot thank the Surgeon and staff enough, I had been very worried about the procedure before I had gone in and it is a relief for it to be over.

I would definitely recommend this hospital and staff to anyone requiring treatment and if within my power, give them all a pay rise !!

Thank you once again, I am very grateful.
