Please may I draw to your attention the outstanding work carried out yesterday by a doctor and a facilitator out the TIA Clinic.
My 97 year-old mother had been given an urgent appointment at the clinic to see a doctor, whose consultation was methodical, polite and informative and he was able to initiate an MRI scan without delay and give an accurate diagnosis. His careful work and identification of remedies for her condition was extremely praiseworthy, and at all times he was at pains to consult my mother and respect all her own decisions leading to clear and positive outcomes.
Meanwhile a consultant was an example of the way to carry out the facilitation of a complex series of procedures for the patient, making the whole process as seamless as possible, and speeding up the consultation itself and associated tests. He had to hand specific information which the doctor requested. The consultant was unfailingly polite and helpful, even to the extent of providing a cup of tea, and liaising with the ambulance service for my mother's return home. His work made the consultation as easy as it could have been, and we are most grateful.
The work of these two individuals and the others on the team are a fine example of the best aspects of the NHS and its work in practice.
