Upon arriving in this department following on from 7 appointments in one day, I asked if someone could check to see if we could be seen earlier than our scheduled time as the waiting room was empty and we had a long journey back to Hampshire with a disabled son who is wheelchair bound, and was eager to get away before the rush hour traffic. I asked the receptionist if anything could be done and she replied she would have to speak with her colleague then come back to me, which she didn’t. After being their for 15 minutes a private patient strolls in apologising for being late for his appointment and gets seen almost immediately. Our appointment time came and went and I asked the nurse what the problem was as it said on schedule which she proceeded to find out why we still hadn’t been seen. Once in the room with the technician he explained before the previous patient he didn’t have any patients for one hour so he could have fitted us in without a problem but the receptionist did not even try. I was absolutely livid. I have nothing but praise for our wonderful NHS and most staff that work very hard on our behalf, but felt very let down today with no direct apology from them. Guess what, we got stuck in rush hour traffic, absolutely wonderful. Not very professional staff.
