"Intensive Care - Outreach Help"

About: Colchester General Hospital

(as a relative),

My wife & I were visiting Colchester town and Essex in general when my wife became ill with what I later found out was a very severe chest infection.

I do not know the process but at some point a nurse was called, a dark blue uniform & a scottish accent. He, as he explained, was part of a critical care outreach, and had been called as the doctors were worried about my wife (I cannot remember the outreach nurse's name)

This nurse, I believe, saved my wife's life as I could hear him on the telephone directing all sorts of things that were related. He managed the situation, quickly got the bed in intensive care sorted & then moved my wife very swiftly up to the intensive care ward.

I would like to thank this hospital for having this service as I believe my wife would not be here if this nurse had not been called at the point they were. I only hope that my home hospital has the same superb intensive care ward & superb outreach as Colchester General.

Thank you.
