"Left Axillary Node Dissection"

About: Whiston Hospital / Plastic surgery

After discovering a tumour in the lymph gland area of my left shoulder, the decision to surgically remove it was made in consultation with the Plastic Surgery team. At 66 years old, this was the first piece of major surgery I had ever had so to say there was some trepidation was an understatement. The advice the consultant gave left you feeling he knew what was best for you and that you were getting the best treatment available. I was in Ward 3A at Whiston Hospital for 3 days and I have to say the treatment I had was fantastic. From the senior staff to the nursing staff and the catering staff, I was very well looked after. Even after I had left the they made sure I was doing everything correctly afterwards. Although I wouldn't want the experience again, I would have no qualms about going to Whiston Hospital if I had to.
