"CRB checks for nurses"

About: Rotherham PCT

(as the patient),

The waste/duplication/inefficiency I want to tell you about is:

1. CRB checks needed each time a nurse moves to a different ward.I know about this because I was told by a staff member.

2. Nursing - invisible nurses - not changing saline drip. I know about this because I saw this as a visitor

3. Staff attitude - I asked for toast for breakfast as an in patient. The nurse what not pleased that I had asked because there was no bread.

I support the organisation in making sure that the voice of patients and the public is heard and used in planning services. This involves running events, managing surveys, and building networks with the local community.

This comment was posted from our Stakeholder event in June. We are asking for help in identifying waste and inefficiencies within health services, as we want to make provide the best value we can for public money.

A full report of the event has been sent to attendees and NHS Rotherham Board. Details of specific actions and issues have also been passed to commissioning staff for action.

Specific Issues Raised Above

I will make enquiries about CRB checks. I agree that this does sound wasteful, but sometimes we are bound by legislation, and have to carry these out accordingly.

Staff attitude is an issue that comes up very often. A smile and a positive attitude costs nothing and can make a huge difference to patients. This is a message that we will pass on to all the services that we commission.
